When the bond purchase is made, Jet will file the bond for you immediately to the City of Nederland. Contractors can opt to have the bond sent to them first via request. Either way the bond needs to make it to the following address:

City of Nederland
Building and Zoning
P.O. Box 967
Nederland, TX 77627

While some may consider it dangerous to emulate the Dutch, we at Jet support giant levees, windmills, and bicycling (even more so if in Texas, than Europe). What the City of Nederlands does find dangerous is the risk the public faces from contractors not performing work to code or not upholding their warranty.

Enter the Contractor License Bond. This bond is financial protection for the City and its citizens from contractors. While it is rarely needed, there are cases where contractors are unable or unwilling to correct mistakes or transgressions. In those cases, the surety bond is a guarantee from Jet Insurance Company to reimburse damaged parties up to the $15,000 bond limit.

A claim may be made upon the bond following a court determination (typically due to a breach of contract), Building Code violation, Code of Ordinance violation, or any other City Ordinance violation. The bond provides coverage for up to one year after work has been completed by the contractor.

The bond can be cancelled upon request to [email protected]. Jet will then request cancellation from the City. This can take months at times, not for Jet to perform, but for Cities to leave a time period available for last-second claims to come in following a contractor hanging up their hat.

For contractors who purchase on our monthly terms, the bond will remain active so long as the card provided is able to have the $10 payment withdrawn each month. Those who purchase on annual bond terms will receive a renewal notice months in advance. Jet only needs payment from the contractor which can be done online (via the email we send) or by check in the mail.
