Filing a Contractor Bond is an important step in receiving your permit (or license) for constructing, erecting, repairing, moving, improving, converting, constructing, or demolishing structures or buildings. It will be active for one year from the day of approval and will provide coverage of your work for up to two years past the final inspection under Chapter 24.01.001 of the Beaumont Building Regulations. 

What this means is that you have a year to complete the construction work and will be bound to maintain or repair the work as needed for two years after the final inspection. Any shortcomings or failure on your part to fulfill the obligations of the work contract can lead to a claim by the injured person who has suffered damage.
