You can find applications and details specific to your trade on the Universal City Contractor Registration web page.
Contractor registrations are active for one year and can be renewed for one-year terms thereafter. Your bond must remain active for the duration of your registration with the City, but can be purchased on terms of your choosing.
Jet will send you a bond renewal invoice via snail mail and email. So long as you complete payment before your bond renewal date, your Contractor Bondond will stay on file with Universal City, ensuring your registration is in good standing. For monthly customers, the payment is taken automatically from the card provided and the bond stays active until cancellation is requested (or payment fails).
As a licensed contractor, the City of Universal City is putting faith in you to complete piping, irrigation, residential remodeling, etc., up the standards of the building code. Failing to abide by the City’s rules and laws will result in some not so pretty punitive actions (a bond claim or registration revocation). Remember, you are liable for any work for six months following completion; bond claims can be filed during this time.
Jet’s responsibility is to pay for valid claims, but then the responsibility lies with you to restore the claim amount by reimbursing Jet. But really, it’s best to just follow the regulations and avoid a mess in the first place.
