Property owners in Travis County, Texas who need the construction of a new or improved driveway access point that leads to a public road must first obtain a Right-of-Way Permit with the county’s Transportation and Natural Resources Department, Permit Division. To be eligible for an approved permit, a Right-of-Way Driveway Bond (sometimes called a Performance Bond) must be filed with the Division.
The bond limit for the Right-of-Way Driveway Permit Bond is custom and is based on the square footage of pavement that is being cut within the right-of-way area. The minimum bond amount required is $5,000 and approval of your limit by the Transportation and Natural Resources Department is needed.
At Jet, surety bond amounts up to a $10,000 limit can be purchased for a guaranteed price of $100 for a one-year term. Just click the “Secure Your Bond” button above to purchase your bond instantly!

Travis County, Texas requires property owners to obtain a proper permit and the Right-of-Way Driveway Bond as a way to financially assure the Transportation and Natural Resources Department that they will comply with all construction, excavation, and driveway paving regulations when conducting the right-of-way project. If damages are caused to the public road and remain damaged after the project has been completed, the county may use funds from the surety bond to cover the costs of restoring the public area.
If your driveway project goes on longer than expected, you may need to renew your Right-of-Way Driveway Bond. No need to worry though! Jet will send you a renewal invoice prior to your official bond term expiration date by mail and email. Simply complete the standard payment due and your bond will remain active with Travis County for another term.
As for cancelling the Right-of-Way Driveway Bond, you can do so at any time with Jet. We ask that you send us a written cancellation request to [email protected]. Once received, we will notify the Transportation and Natural Resources Department of the bond termination. The liability of your bond will then be released within a 30-day period.
