Junk dealers or secondhand item dealers must have a $1,000 Junk/Secondhand Dealer Bond to be able to work in Sherman, Texas. The bond protects the City and its people from monetary loss brought on by the dealer’s dishonorable conduct.
With Jet, your Sherman Junk Dealer Bond cost is only $100 for one year. You are guaranteed this price without waiting for a credit check or application approval.
Once you have finished the purchase of your Junk Dealer Bond, Jet will complete the original form and mail it to you. You must sign the bond and mail it in to:
City of Sherman
PO Box 1106
Sherman, TX 75091
The bond is issued along with the Junk/Secondhand Dealer Permit, which is active for one year. The bond cannot be cancelled during this time and will even remain on file with the City of Sherman for two years after the permit period.
As a dealer of secondhand items or junk, you are expected to follow Article 4.07 of the Sherman Code of Ordinances. This means that you are conducting business honestly, taking records of the items that come into your possession, not purchasing items from minors, and not storing items improperly. Violating the Code can cause monetary loss to your customers; you are required to provide a refund in these cases. Failure to refund the money can lead to a claim on the bond. Additionally, you must pay all administrative penalties that become due; a claim would also cover these payments if you fail to submit payment.
