This bond can be issued for business licenses or permits issued by the City. The bond will stay active for the duration of the permit, but for licenses, the bond can be active up to one year. License bonds may need to be renewed in agreement with the license’s renewal. 

At its essence, the Poteet License/Permit Bond helps the City keep business owners accountable for their actions. If a violation of the Poteet Ordinances occurs and that violation is covered by the bond and license/permit, the injured party can file a claim on the bond to be compensated accordingly. This makes sure that the party that suffered loss or damages from the actions of the license holder or permit holder will be taken care of, but the violator is not released from liability. If a claim is paid out, the license or permit holder is obligated to pay back the amount of the claim to restore the License/Permit Bond to its full limit.
