Texas Peddler/Solicitor Bonds

c

Businesses that don’t have a set physical location for selling their wares are known under several names: peddlers, solicitors, itinerant merchants, transient vendors, street vendors, you name it. Most cities will require these types of sellers to file a permit before setting up shop and, chances are, a bond will also be required. A Surety Bond is used to protect the people of Texas from sellers that don’t deliver on goods or services that were paid for or from those engaging in other fraudulent business practices.

SECURE YOUR BOND

Buy your Texas Peddler, Solicitor, Transient Merchant, or Itinerant Vendor Bond in minutes with Jet. Click the button above to get started!

What Is the Lowest Price for the Bond?

Most Peddler/Solicitor Bonds can be purchased for just $100 with Jet! Of course, the bond limit is a major factor in determining the cost and can range between $1,000 and $10,000.

The Pecos Peddler Bond and any other city requiring a bond amount of $25,000 or more may be subject to a credit check and an underwriter review.

The Surety Bond Process With Jet

When you begin your Solicitor Bond purchase, you will need to fill out some basic information about your business so that we can complete the bond form. As mentioned earlier, a soft credit check may be needed (this is generally used for the higher limits, like $10,000), so entering a social security would be required in these cases. Once you are done entering all information, you will be able to purchase your Peddler Bond.

Jet will fill out all fields of the bond form and mail it to you. You will need to file it along with your peddler permit at your local city clerk, city hall, planning department, or whatever it might be. See the chart below for the addresses.

Texas Peddler/Solicitor Bond Requirements

These bonds are generally held during the time the permit is active and for what is termed a “cancellation period” after. This cancellation period could be as little as an extra thirty (30) days or two (2) full years after the permit has expired and is typically specified on the bond form.

Renewals may be required by the city if you continually renew your permit. Jet will send you a notice through mail and email. Just submit payment for your new term to keep your bond active!

If you no longer need your bond, some cities will allow for a cancellation of the bond. Usually, a 30-day notice is required before the cancellation is filed. Contact us at [email protected] if you have a cancellation request.

How Does a Peddler or Solicitor Avoid Bond Claims?

It’s really quite simple to avoid claims on the Surety Bond. Although the language might be different from city to city, these bonds are generally used to reimburse customers for any goods or services that were paid for but not delivered from your end. In many cases, you can relieve any complaints by completing the refund for the goods/services that were not fulfilled and prevent them from turning into a claim and the legal headache that comes with it.

Make sure to check your local statutes to know what kind of behavior is expected of you and what actions would result in a claim or other penalties.

If you are on the receiving end of a claim, contact Jet right away. We will check whether the claim is valid before releasing funds from the bond. It may still not be too late to refund the injured person and alleviate the complaint. If the claim turns out to be legitimate, Jet will have to pay the customer an amount not more than your bond limit. You are responsible for restoring the amount to Jet since your actions led to the claim payout. All in all, it is best to make an effort to avoid bond claims since you will end up paying for your actions anyways.
