If you are registering or renewing your contractor license, the completed Contractor Registration/Renewal Application must also be sent to the above address.
The main purpose of a Contractor License/Permit Bond is to financially protect the contractor’s customer (e.g. the City of Longview or a resident) from economic harm in cases where a regulation violation or breach of contract is committed.
For example, residential contractors that have been hired for a home improvement project will be expected to follow all license/building code regulations, as well as fulfill any contractual obligations that have been agreed upon with the homeowner. So, if you do something as little as break a china plate or as big as ignoring every building standard possible, the damaged party has every right to file a claim on your Residential Contractor Bond. In order to avoid this scenario, it is in your best interest to fix/pay for any damages that occur and to simply perform well-done construction work. Failure to do so may lead to funds from the surety company being used to cover financial losses faced by the harmed party, and may also be used to pay for a new contractor that will take over the project.
As for renewing your license bond, the Jet team will send you a renewal invoice by mail and email prior to your bond term expiration date. If you are interested in renewing then just complete the standard payment due and you’ll be all set with the City of Longview for another term.
Permits are typically only needed for one year so if you purchased a permit bond such as the Right-of-Way Bond and need to renew, give Jet a call at 855-296-2663 and we can help you out with the renewal process.
