Contractors that perform certain construction work within the City of Hurst, Texas will likely need a permit for their proposed project by the Public Works Department. A permit to reconstruct or repair a water, sanitary sewer, or stormwater facility must obtain a Water and Sewer Bond. A Street Bond and applicable permit are also required of contractors that have been approved for a curb, gutter, sidewalk, driveway, and/or storm sewer construction project.
According to the Hust Public Works Department, both the Water and Sewer Bond and the Street Bond are required of contractors for projects that are estimated to exceed $25,000 in value. The bond limits for each must be equal to the cost of the construction job.
At Jet, prices for surety bonds such as the Water and Sewer Bond and the Street Bond are a small fraction of the bond limit and are based on a soft credit check of the applicant. So if you are seeking a custom bond amount that is a little over $25,000, you could pay as little as $250 for a one-year bond term.
For additional custom bond limits at our preferred credit tier rates, take a look at Jet’s price chart below.
Bond Limit | Cost |
---|---|
$1,000 (House Mover) | $100 |
$25,001 | $250 |

The Water and Sewer Bond and the Street Bond are both required by the Public Works Department to act as financial guarantees for the City of Hurst and its residents in cases where a contractor commits a permit violation or breach of contract and refuses to resolve the problem. If something of this nature occurs, the applicable surety bond may be used to cover any losses incurred by the damaged party, as well as the cost of hiring a new contractor to complete the construction project up to the standards of the permit.
Both the Water and Sewer Bond and the Street Bond have a two-year maintenance clause. This means the contractor will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the job site for a period of two years once the project has been officially completed. So if the Public Works Department requests for a repair to be made to a sidewalk, the contractor will be expected to fulfill this obligation within 10 days of the maintenance notice. In cases where the contractor does not complete this requirement, the Department has the right to file a claim on the contractor’s surety bond.
