The main purpose of the Blanket Building and Construction Bond is to act as a financial guarantee for anyone that hires a contractor, yet the contractor must hold the bond. So if the contractor commits a license violation, negligence, poor workmanship, or a breach of contract, the damaged client won’t have to worry too much about their financial losses as they can file a claim on the contractor’s bond for recompensation. The claimant will only be paid up to the max limit amount of the bond; the bond will not cover their losses fully should the damages be over $10,000.
As an example, not upholding your warranty agreement is a common cause of a bond claim. So, if a former client finds that the bathroom tile that was just installed is crooked, the contractor will be expected to redo the tile floor within a certain period of time and per contract/code specifications. Failure to do so may result in damages to the homeowner and leaving them with only the option to file a claim on your Contractor Bond (they will sue the contractor too).
As for renewing your Contractor License Bond, the Jet team has created a seamless process for this. If you are a part of our monthly payment plan, you won’t have to worry about renewing your bond as long as payments are continuously fulfilled each month. Contractors that purchased their bond in full and upfront will receive a renewal invoice via email and mail prior to their bond term expiration date. Simply complete the standard payment due and you’ll be all set with Horizon City for another term.
