The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regulates deputy game wardens and special game wardens to make sure that they are fulfilling the obligations of their commission. One of these obligations is holding a $2,000 Deputy Game Warden Bond or a $2,500 Special Game Warden Bond as protection against potential game warden illegal actions.

These bonds are very similar but the distinguishing factor between them is the type of game warden, which is specified in the name of the bond. A deputy game warden is an enforcer of hunting, fishing, and conservation of marine animals or wildlife laws. Deputy game wardens must meet the standards given in Section 11.020 of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code and Rule 55.62 of the Texas Administrative Code.
A special game warden is a person who has retired (honorably) from working as a deputy game warden and is commissioned by the Department. Special game wardens are bound to comply with Section 11.0201 of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code and Rule 55.63 of the Texas Administrative Code.
Both the Deputy Game Warden Bond and the Special Game Warden Bond are used for the same thing: to make sure that a game warden’s violation of applicable laws, statutes, regulations (like the Parks and Wildlife Code), or Department policies will not cause damage. If a game warden fails to follow these rules, any person who is damaged by their actions will be able to file a claim for compensation on the bond in an amount that does not exceed the bond limit.
If you receive a claim on your Game Warden Bond, get in contact with Jet immediately. Our team will review the evidence to make sure that you are not being falsely accused. Any evidence you have in your defense should be provided now. If the claim is legitimate, Jet will need to pay the injured person. Still, you are responsible for your actions and will be required to pay Jet back.
Perhaps, but not at the same time. A special game warden is simply a deputy game warden that has honorably retired.
