So, why does the City require these bonds? The $5,000 House Mover’s Bond from Jet Insurance Company is used as a financial promise that the process of relocating the structure will not lead to financial damages to the City or anyone else. The $10,000 Paving Bond protects against the City having to foot the bill for an excavating contractor who fails to complete the job according to the contract. The $5,000 Commercial Wastewater Bond protects against damages from a wastewater installer whose work is not up to Code. The House/Structure Moving Rehabilitation Bond is used in a similar manner, to make sure that the house does not suffer damage during the moving or rehabilitation of the structure. This bond has a limit that is $2,000, or $1 per square foot that is being moved (measured from the building’s exterior).
The City of Dallas has a handful of other surety bonds that may be required before a license or permit can be issued. If you need one of the bonds listed below, please give our office a call at (855) 296-2663 to apply.
