Contractors who perform building construction and/or tree trimming in the City of Cameron, Texas must follow the regulations of their license, as well as fulfill any obligations of their construction contracts (if applicable). The main purpose of the Contractor License Bond is to finically ensure that such requirements will be upheld. However, if the contractor commits a violation and is unable or unwilling to provide restitution, any damaged party (such as a past customer or the city themselves) may pursue civil action against the contractor. In cases where a Cameron City judge rules in favor of the claimant, the surety bond may be used to cover any financial losses incurred by the damaged party due to the contractor’s license transgressions.
According to the Code Enforcement/Building Permits Department, licenses are active from January 1st through December 31st. To renew and maintain your contractor license, the Contractor License Bond must remain active and on file with the Department. This means you will likely be required to renew your bond with Jet if you plan on continuing your career as a contractor.
However, if you choose to be a part of our monthly payment plan, you won’t have to worry about renewing. Your Contractor License Bond will remain active as long as the payment obligation is fulfilled each month. As for those that purchased the surety bond in full and upfront, the Jet team will send you a renewal invoice by mail and email prior to your official bond term expiration date. Simply pay the standard price that is due and your bond will be all set with the City of Cameron for an additional term.
