Contractors that perform construction projects in City of Ballinger public right-of-way areas must be approved for a permit with the local Street Department. To be eligible for such, a Right-of-Way Bond is required of the applicant.
According to the Ballinger Street Department’s City Administrator, your custom bond limit is based on the estimated cost of replacing the soil which may be removed from any public right-of-way area during the construction project. The bond amount must be equal in value to what it would cost to recover the street or highway to its original condition.
At Jet, the cost of the Right-of-Way Permit Bond is a small percentage of the custom bond limit and is based on a soft credit check of the applicant. However, if you are seeking up to a $25,000 bond limit, you may obtain the bond as an instant issue. This means there is no credit check and your price is guaranteed!
Take a look at the chart below for various custom bond limits, as well as prices that are an instant issue or credit-based.
Bond Limit | Cost |
---|---|
Up to $10,000 | $100 |
$25,000 | $125 |
$50,000 | $250 |
The original signed and sealed Right-of-Way Bond form, along with your completed permit application, must be submitted to the Ballinger Street Department at the mailing address listed below:

The purpose of the Right-of-Way Permit Bond is to financially ensure that the hired contractor will follow all excavation and street opening procedures that are to be conducted in any of the public right-of-way areas (i.e. roads, streets, alleys, or highways). If the contractor fails to follow permit regulations pursuant to Chapter 23, Article 2 of the City of Ballinger, Texas Code Book, the surety bond may be used by the Street Department to cover the cost of completing the project properly with a new contractor.
Your Right-of-Way Bond must remain in effect throughout the entirety of your construction project. So if the project goes beyond its expected completion date, you may be required to renew your bond. No need to worry though! The Jet team will send you a renewal invoice prior to your official bond term expiration date via mail and email. All you need to do is fulfill the standard payment due and your bond will be all set with the Ballinger Street Department for an additional year.
