Most Abilene Contractor Bonds must be renewed along with contractor licenses for you to be able to continue running your business. Jet will send you a renewal notice through mail and email. All you need to do is pick the way you want to pay and provide payment information. Those utilizing the monthly bond payments will not need to worry about a renewal process as each payment keeps the contractor bond active.

To cancel your bond, just send Jet an email at [email protected]. The bond can be ended after a 30-day cancellation period, except for the Street Contractor Bond, which cannot be cancelled early and will expire on December 31st of the year of issuance. Once bonds are fully cancelled, Jet will calculate a refund for the unused time; monthly payments will end after the cancellation period is over.

The City of Abilene regulates contractors that work within its City limits to protect citizens from being swindled by contractors who promise work and never hold up that promise. Contractors must follow the Construction Regulations in Chapter 8 of the Abilene Municipal Code; if the contractor breaks these regulations, the City will look for compensation or remediation by taking action against the Contractor Bond. The claim can be up to, but not exceeding the full limit of the bond to account for the damage caused.

If you receive a claim, get in touch with Jet right away! Every effort should be made if there is a way to relieve the complaint. A claim that is valid will be paid out by the bond, but you are responsible for paying Jet back since it was your actions that led to the claim.
