Washington Township
8200 McEwen Rd
Dayton, OH 45458
The Township accepts the $2,500 Street Excavation Bond on an annual basis for all work the contractor does in a year. As such, it will need to be renewed each year. Jet will send you a mailed and emailed notice when you are due for renewal. All you need to do is verify your information and submit payment for your new term.
The bond serves the purpose of making sure that excavations that are done in any road, street, sidewalk, or other trafficway will be replaced to a condition that can be used. Although the bond is a guarantee, it should only be used as a last resort. As a contractor, you are obligated to follow your street excavation permit regulations as well as Section 5571.16 of the Ohio Revised Code as it applies to the following work:
Concrete
Curbs, Sidewalks, and Drive Approaches
Trench Excavation
Surface Restoration
Asphalt Pavement
Areas Outside the Pavement
Any failure to fulfill the excavation project and restore the site to a safe and usable condition can result in a claim on the bond to pay for any labor or materials needed. The Washington Township will inspect the site after it’s completed and you will be given a chance to make any repairs or adjustments to bring the site into compliance, as well as any repairs or replacements for the year following the completion of work. The Township will need to make a final inspection before releasing the bond.
