The City of Troy, Ohio requires contractors who are applying for a right-of-way license and/or permit to acquire a Contractor Bond and file it with the City’s Engineering Department.
According to the Troy Engineering Department, the custom limit for your Contractor Bond will depend on the type of license or permit you are applying for and is typically based on the estimated cost of the construction project.
Contractors with bond limits under $20,000 are automatically approved for a rate of $100. A $25,000 bond will be approved at $125. Any greater limits require a soft credit check of the contractor.

The Troy Engineering Department requires various licenses and permits for contractors performing sidewalks, curb, and gutter projects in a right-of-way area. The purpose of the mandated registration and Contractor Bond is to ensure that the qualified contractor follows the rules and regulations of their license/permit, as well as any other contractual obligations. If the contractor commits a violation or causes damages, the surety bond will act as a financial guarantee for the harmed party.
Jet will send you a renewal invoice for your Contractor Bond prior to its bond term expiration date. All we require is standard payment to keep your bond active; no additional paperwork or add-on fees will be asked of you.
