In Perry County, plumbers and septage installers, haulers, and service providers must hold a surety bond. The Contractor Bonds serve as a last resort for injured customers (whether it is the County of Perry or any of its businesses or citizens) to be reimbursed for unfinished or faulty work.
Plumbing contractors are guaranteed a rate of $100 for the $20,000 Plumbing Contractor Bond. The price for the $25,000 bond for septage haulers and service providers is $125.
Classification | Bond Limit | Cost |
---|---|---|
Plumbing Contractor | $20,000 | $100 |
Septage Haulers and Service Providers | $25,000 | $125 |
A septage installer must have a bond in an amount equal to the cost of a single system or if more than one septage system is installed per year, the bond will be $40,000. Because of the higher amount, a credit check may be required for Septage Installer Bonds, but the price is only a small percentage of the bond limit.
Septage contractors may hold dual registrations in the County of Perry for installing and providing service for septage systems. If this is the case, the bond limit for service providers can decrease to $15,000.
Jet will prepare your Perry County Contractor Bond form and mail it to you to file along with any other registration paperwork, such as the Plumbing Permit or Septage Installer Permit. Registration documents are to be mailed to the following address:
Perry County Health Department
PO Box 230
New Lexington, OH 43764
The Health Department set a bond requirement to make sure that the septage contractors or plumbers under their jurisdiction will not be conducting business fraudulently. Septage contractors are bound to the obligations found in the Ohio Administrative Code, Chapter 3701-29, and plumbers are held to Chapter 4101:3 of the Ohio Administrative Code; a violation of these regulations can cause damages that bring a financial burden on the owner of the septage system or other plumbing work. The cost of labor or materials needed to complete the installation, service, construction, or maintenance that the contractor failed to fulfill.
The system owner can seek reimbursement from the bond and Jet will be obligated to pay out the claim to cover the cost of labor or materials needed to complete the installation, service, construction, or maintenance that the contractor failed to fulfill. That does not relieve you from paying for the damages you caused; you must pay Jet back for the claim payout.
There may be other licenses or permits that require a surety bond in Perry County. If you need a License/Permit Bond for another trade, please contact Jet for a quote.
