The bonds issued for a license must be renewed by December 31st of the year of expiration; Jet will send renewal notices through mail and email. To complete the renewal, simply verify your information and make payment. Right-of-Way Bonds are issued for street opening (right-of-way usage) permits and are active while construction is going on. The County Engineer may also extend the bond for assurance that all work is completed.
The purpose of surety bonds is to provide protection against the actions of a licensee acting outside of the code of conduct given them. In Morrow County, the expectations for licensing are as follows:
Right-of-Way Bonds ensure a subdivider (or a contractor who performs public improvements in roadways) is held accountable for the fulfillment of the Subdivider’s Agreement. All construction work must be completed and the site restored for public use within one year unless extended by the County.
Any failure on your part to comply with such regulations can result in damages that can be compensated by the bond. This would account for any labor or materials used to finish an incomplete job or make repairs to shoddy workmanship. You will still be held liable for your actions and will have to repay Jet in the amount of the claim.
