The Garfield Heights Building and Housing Department requires contractors, sub-contractors, plumbers, and sewer builders to obtain a Contractor Bond to ensure that the licensee will be held liable for their actions. The surety bond acts as an extra layer of protection against license violations and can be used as restitution for the Department themselves or a client that is damaged by the licensee’s transgression(s).

It is important to note that contractors and sub-contractors are also required to hold a liability insurance plan of at least $300,000 for personal injury and $600,000 for general aggregate. These forms of insurance, including the surety bond, must be maintained in order to keep your license in good standing with the Department.
