The City of Findlay has several different Contractor Bonds that it might require, based on the type of work the contractor is completing.
Sidewalk, Driveway, or Curb Cuts
The $5,000 Sidewalk and/or Driveway and/or Curb Cuts License and Permit Bond are mandatory to receive a license. These bonds protect the City from being liable for accidents or injuries that occur on the project site through a contractor’s violation of license regulations. The bond expires on the last day of the year and must be renewed annually.
Additionally, contractors with this license may need to file the performance bonds or blanket bonds listed below. If an existing sidewalk (driveway, etc.) needs repairs or needs to be replaced, performance bonds are used to guarantee the quality of work being done. Blanket bonds come into play when several projects are worked on at once; these guarantee performance for multiple projects under one bond.
Sewer Tapping
A $5,000 Sewer Tapping License and Permit Bond is mandatory to ensure that a sewer tapper’s actions will not cause damage to the water or sewage system and the site will be restored to its original condition. The bond expires at the end of the year and must be annually submitted with licensing paperwork.
Additional bonds may be required to guarantee that streets that are cut into to access water or sewer systems will be returned to a usable condition.
