In order to be able to work in the Village of Cuyahoga Heights, a $20,000 Contractor Registration Bond must be submitted by: General Contractors, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Fire Safety, and Hydronics. Registration periods for contractors begin January 1st and end December 31st and must be renewed each year. You must have an active Contractor Bond during this time to avoid any complications with your registration. Jet will send a renewal notice when your term is ending; simply fill out the form (online or through the mail) and submit payment to keep your bond going.
General contractors include all trades not previously listed including contractors performing excavation, painting, work on septic systems, roofing, siding and window work, concrete and paving work, or tree trimming/removal. Regardless of the classification, every registered contractor must follow the code of conduct found in the Cuyahoga Heights Code of Ordinances as it pertains to them. If you violate such codes, a claim on the bond can be made to fix damages or unfinished work. You will still be held liable for your actions and will be required to repay Jet for the claim payout.
