With Jet, the process to purchase your bond only requires a few minutes of your time along with the input of basic information. Our application has been created to avoid any lengthy delays that would stop you from beginning your mining operations!
The bond amount is partially determined by any professional engineer, grading contractor, or professional land surveyor working directly with the applicant. An estimation of costs associated with returning the land back to its original condition will need to be made to help determine the bond amount as well as consideration of the following factors:
An additional factor considered for the bond limit is the amount of time the borrow pit is expected to be used. Depending on duration, the Board of Commissioners will have the authority to request 20% or more of the estimated amount to complete the work to cover inflation over time.
Davidson County may also consult with the Soil and Water Conservation Office or the regional office of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality for further guidance in determining the appropriate costs related to the reclamation of land.
Given the nature of this bond, Jet offers applicants the convenience of having options for their payment plan; applicants may choose to purchase their bonds on either monthly or yearly terms.
Davidson County operates several departments meant to promote the unity, wellbeing, and the overall protection of Davidson as a community. Davidson County’s Land Department requires that applicants seeking land reclamation obtain a bond to guarantee their performance of the agreed upon reclamation plan.
The applicant that has obtained the bond will be expected to perform their responsibilities outlined in the reclamation plan. The bond serves as a backup should the applicant defaults on their responsibilities, in which case the County and the Commission will step in and use the bond funds to complete the project at hand. Jet’s role is to ensure that the restitution up to the bonding limit takes place for Davidson County to complete the project.
The application process at Jet is made simple for your convenience. There is no unnecessary paperwork or waiting times involved in our application process.
Applicants seeking to obtain this bond will simply need to complete our online application and provide additional financial paperwork if requested. Once there has been a thorough review of the application, an approved rate will be provided for the applicant to purchase their bond.
Applicants will receive a copy of the bond and a receipt of the transaction for their personal records.

Yes, it is possible! The applicant just needs to notify Jet of their intent to cancel the bond. Once Jet receives the written cancellation notice, we will request cancellation from the Commission. This bond has an attached cancellation provision of 60 days in which the bond will remain active even after cancellation has been requested. Jet will consider the cancellation provisional period when calculating the refund amount. Those on monthly payment plans will not receive a refund but the payments will discontinue after the 60-day cancellation period.
The Davidson County Zoning Ordinance Reclamation Bond is continuous until canceled by the Davidson County Department or by Jet (the Surety). If you have purchased your bond on monthly terms, the bond will remain in effect as long as the automatic payments continue. Bonds purchased on a yearly basis will only require a one-time annual renewal payment for the bond coverage to continue.

If the applicant fails to provide an appropriate Site Plan and/or Reclamation Plan or fails to perform their duties outlined within the plan, then a claim may be made against them on behalf of the County.
If there has already been an investigation on behalf of the Board of Commissioners and a claim has been found valid, Jet will still do their part to review supporting documentation and the claim details.
If Jet deems the claim legitimate, we will provide a payout to the damaged party up to the bonding limit with the expectation that the applicant will submit a reimbursement payment to us shortly after. The reimbursement payment is expected from the applicant because Jet has provided a claim payout based on a failed performance on behalf of the applicant.
