Anyone who operates a commercial/non-commercial driver training school or a driver improvement clinic is required by the State of Georgia Department of Driver Services to be bonded in the amount of $10,000. They will need either a Commercial Driver Training School Bond, Driver Training School Bond, or Driver Improvement Clinic Bond.
The application process for these bonds will take a minimal amount of time. In some cases, you may even qualify for an instant quote. Another benefit of Jet Insurance Company is you deal directly with the bond carrier, rather than paying extra to use an agent or middleman.
With Jet, the price of your bond can be seen below. Each driver training school/driver improvement clinic will need to be bonded for the amount mentioned above. We can offer a monthly rate of $10 or an annual premium of $100 per location.
# of Schools/Clinics | Bond Limit | Bond Term | Cost |
---|---|---|---|
One | $10,000 | Monthly | $10 |
Yearly | $100 | ||
Two | $20,000 | Monthly | $20 |
Yearly | $200 |
Additional underwriting may be required in some circumstances. If this is the case, someone from our team of experienced underwriters will reach out to gather any additional information or financial documents needed.
The Department of Driver Services for the State of Georgia has a goal to protect the public when ANY tires reach the rubble. And training schools and improvement clinics are the first lines of defense in instructing the public on how to keep everyone safe. As the first line of defense in the protection of public safety, the State of Georgia wants to guarantee that you can provide the quality of education required to properly instruct drivers.
This is why the bond is necessary. It provides a surety that if improper education is the cause and financial damages are the effect, those damages are guaranteed to be restored, whether that be by the surety company or by the school/clinic.
Once you purchase your bond, Jet will send you the original copy through the mail and have an electronic copy immediately available. The signed bond will need to be mailed to the appropriate address listed below.

If you decide to cancel your bond, please email us a copy of the cancellation at [email protected]. If you paid for your bond on annual terms, you may be entitled to a prorated refund. For those on monthly terms, there will not be a refund, but you can cancel your bond at any time.
Jet will file your cancellation notice with the Department of Driver Services. There is a grace period of 30 days for all three bonds listed in the article, just in case any claimants show up as the school/clinic begins closing.
There is no renewal process for these bonds as they are continuous once purchased. The only update you’ll need to worry about is every four years when your license renews.
The State of Georgia DDS requests that a bond continuation certificate be attached to the license renewal application. Just let us know when your renewal is due and we can provide you with the certificate.
