Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Contractor Bond - May be required of any contractor in the City that plans on performing building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical construction work. The bond has a standard $5,000 limit. The contractor is responsible for following local construction regulations, and upon inspection, must repair/reconstruct any incomplete or defective workmanship requested by the City Inspector/Code Official within 48 hours. Failure to do so may result in a bond claim for any financial losses incurred by the City or a damaged resident.
Building Mover Bond - This $5,000 surety bond may be required before a building or structure can be moved within the City. During the move, if any damages are caused to a public street, curb, sidewalk, shade tree, highway, or any other city property, the contractor is responsible for restoring the area to its original condition. Failure to comply with this stipulation can lead to the City filing a bond claim.
Bid Contract Bond - Contractors may need this surety bond if they are seeking a construction contract with the City. The bond limit must be no less than 5% of the total contract value. Failing to uphold the terms and conditions of the bid contract can result in a bond claim by the City.
Contractor Performance Bond - Once issued a contract with the City, the contractor must provide a performance bond with a limit that is equal to the value of the said contract. The bond financially ensures that the City is protected from damages and all subcontractors/suppliers will receive the compensation owed should the contractor commit a violation or breach of contract. If this occurs, the City may file a claim on the bond, and funds from the claim will cover the financial losses incurred by the damaged party.
