The City of Winter Haven, Florida is not known for winter at all but it is definitely a haven for tourists. Due to this increase in foot traffic, new construction projects have been popping up throughout the area.
Before construction work upon a building or public right-of-way area may begin, a permit and surety bond is likely required of the licensee or permittee. Further details on which bond may apply to your permit project may be found below.
Jet provides the $10,000 Building Contractor Bond for the guaranteed price of $100 for a one-year bond term. Simply select the “Apply for Your Bond” button above to get started with your purchase!
As for the Building Demolition Bond, the bond amount must be equal to the cost of the demolition or removal of the structure.
With the Communications Services Provider Right-of-Way Bond, it gets a little complicated when it comes to the bond limit. Typically, the bond amount is determined by the City and must be equal to 110% of the estimated costs to restore the right-of-way area. However, if the communications services provider is applying for a consolidated permit, then the bond limit must be equal to the total costs of the restoration work to be done for the year or a minimum $10,000 amount, whichever is greater. And, if the communications services provider is simply installing or replacing a utility pole or small wireless facility within a right-of-way area, the bond amount should be $25,000.
Now for prices. At Jet, the cost of a surety bond is a small percentage of the bond limit and is based on a soft credit check of the applicant. Bond limits up to $25,000 will be given a rate at the end of the application. Larger limits may require an underwriter’s review of financials—Jet will reach out if this is the case.
Examples of various bond limits and Jet’s available rates can be found in the price chart below.
Bond Limit | Cost |
---|---|
$10,000 | $100 |

Building Contractor Bond
To be issued various types of building construction permits, a Building Contractor Bond must first be filed with the City’s Building Division. The bond ensures that permit regulations and construction standards are upheld by the contractor. If a violation occurs, the contractor will have 30 days to resolve the issue. Failure to do so may result in licensure penalties and/or a bond claim. Funds from the bond will act as a means of restitution to the City or any consumer that has been financially damaged by the contractor’s actions.
Building Demolition Bond
Demolition contractors must file this bond and an approved permit with the local Fire Department before the demolition or removal of a structure may occur. The work is to be completed within 45 days from the permit issuance date and all permit obligations must be fulfilled. If a violation is committed by the contractor, the City may file a claim on the surety bond.
Communications Services Provider Right-of-Way Bond
Prior to the issuance of a permit to perform construction or maintenance work of a communications facility within a public right-of-way area, the communications services provider must file a bond with the local Engineering Services Division. Once the permit project has been executed, the communications services provider is responsible for restoring the right-of-way area to its original or a better condition. Failure to comply with permit terms and conditions may result in a bond claim by the City.
