Talent agencies working in Florida are required to hold a $5,000 Talent Agency Bond with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) to be licensed. The surety bond ensures there is financial restitution available should the talent agency act in an illegal manner.
A talent agency working as a franchise of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) will need to file a separate $7,500 Talent Agency Bond with the Guild for protection.
Talent Agency Bonds that are filed with the DBPR are issued for 2-year terms, ending on May 31st of an even-numbered year. With Jet, the cost of your bond would start at $175. Actual rates are determined by a credit check.
Bond Term | Cost |
---|---|
Talent Agency (State) | $175 |
Talent Agency (SAG Franchise) | $250 |
*Talent Agency Bonds filed with the Florida DBPR are typically purchased for 2-year terms unless applying for a new license.
If you are applying for a new talent agency license with the DBPR, you may not meet the 2-year term for the license and surety bond, like if you are applying for a talent agency license between May 31st of an odd year and May 31st of an even year. Your application fees and the cost of your bond may be reduced to reflect the shortened length of your license.
Jet makes it easy to apply for your Talent Agency Bond. The application takes just minutes to complete and you’ll find your approved quote at the end. You’ll be able to buy your quote instantly and complete your bond purchase.
Jet will get your bond form ready and mail it to you—a digital copy is also emailed to you with a receipt. Just sign the bond with a witness (who will also need to sign the bond) and mail the original copy of the Talent Agency Bond to the appropriate address:

The SAG-AFTRA Franchise Talent Agency Bond is continuous in nature and will remain in effect until cancellation or termination. SAG-AFTRA requires a 30-day cancellation notice before the cancellation goes into effect.
The Talent Agency Bond filed with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is a little different. It has an expiration date of May 31st of an even-numbered year. The bond can be cancelled early by giving the DBPR a 30-day cancellation notice, but you will need to renew the bond along with your license application.
When either bond is coming up for renewal, Jet will send you a renewal notice through the mail and through email as well. You’ll be able to fill out the mailed notice, or for quicker renewals, just click the button in the email to renew. Your renewal rate may be different than the previous year, mainly because rates are subject to credit approval.
Yes, a talent agency will need a Florida State Talent Agency Bond to be licensed in the state. If the talent agency is also a franchise of SAG-AFTRA, the talent agency must hold both bonds.
