If you are getting a right-of-way occupancy permit from the South Florida Water Management District, you will need to get a “Surety Bond to Demonstrate Financial Assurance (Right of Way Section)”—this is simply called a Right of Way Bond. The bond protects against contractors leaving a job site incomplete or with poor workmanship or faulty materials.
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is made up of the following counties: Broward, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie. Sections of Charlotte, Highlands, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, and Polk counties are also included.
With Jet, your South Florida Water Management District Right of Way Bond starts at just $100. Of course, the actual cost of your bond will be based on the bond limit set by the District and a credit check. If the bond limit is more than $50,000, additional financial documents will be requested.
Bond Limit | Cost |
---|---|
$10,000 | $100 |
$25,000 | $250 |
$50,000 | $500 |
The amount of the bond required by the District will vary, often based on a professional estimate. You can find more details on the required bond limit in the SFWMD Right of Way Criteria Manual.
Once purchased, Jet Insurance Company will mail you the original sealed bond for your signature. The Right of Way Bond must be sent to the following address:
South Florida Water Management District
3301 Gun Club Road
West Palm Beach, FL 33406
The South Florida Water Management District requires a ROW Bond that the work under a Right of Way Occupancy Application or Permit will be completed according to plan. This will need to be held for the duration of the permit.
