Palm Beach County, Florida has very strict public and environmental safety laws in place when it comes to construction projects due to the reliance on the underground drinking water supply. If you are applying for an operating or closure permit from the local Board of County Commissioners, a Wellfield Protection Permit Bond may be required.
The Wellfield Protection Permit Bond limit is based on which zone the construction project is to take place. A standard $20,000 limit is required for Zone 1, $10,000 for Zone 2, and $5,000 for Zone 3. A custom limit that is determined by the Board is needed for Zone 4.
At Jet, the cost of the Wellfield Protection Permit Bond is a small percentage of the limit and is based on a soft credit check of the contractor, a review of business financials, and years of experience. To get started with this process, select the “Apply for Your Bond” button above.
The original signed and sealed Wellfield Protection Permit Bond, along with all other required permit documents, must be submitted to the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners at the mailing address listed below.
Palm Beach County
Board of County Commissioners
301 N. Olive Avenue
West Palm Beach, FL 33401
Permit applications and other applicable documents can be found on the county’s Land Development Division webpage.
It is important to note that the Wellfield Protection Permit Bond must remain active for the entire duration of your permit, as well as for one year following the expiration or revocation of such permit.
The contractor is expected to uphold their permit obligations and follow all regulations pursuant to the Unified Land Development Code. If the contractor commits a violation that results in financial losses for the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners, a claim may be filed upon the Wellfield Protection Permit Bond. Funds from the bond will cover the costs of cleaning up and/or repairing the environmental damages caused by the contractor. Unlike general liability, the bond can cover willful and deliberate acts.
The Palm Beach County Engineer may require a Right-of-Way Bond for contractors that are applying for a right-of-way permit. If this is the case for you, give us a call at 855-296-2663 and a Jet team member will help you out right away.
