If you’re getting a license or permit in the “Theme Park Capital of the World”, it’s possible you need to file a surety bond with the City of Orlando. The City uses bonds as protection against damages, but it doesn’t work like a magic spell. A surety bond is only utilized when the license or permit holder is acting as a villain and breaking the law or obligations of said license or permit.
Here’s a list of Orlando Surety Bonds: Contractor’s Surety Bond, Electrical Contractor’s Bond, Improvements Bond (Performance/Maintenance), Telecommunications Surety Bonds (Construction/Blanket Construction/Performance/Maintenance), Private Owner Construction Bond, Tent Permit Bond, and Dredge and Fill Permit Bond. Apply with Jet to see what rate you’re approved for your Orlando Surety Bond!
The cost of a bond will depend largely on which bond you need, the required bond limit, and oftentimes, a credit check. For high bond limits, financial statements are needed before a bond quote can be given.
The price chart below is a broad example of what a preferred-credit applicant could be approved for. Actual quotes are subject to approval.
Bond Limit | Cost |
---|---|
$10,000 | $100 |
$25,000 | $125 |
$50,000 | $250 |
Once you have completed your purchase, Jet will prepare your bond form. It will need to be filed according to the instructions given on your license or permit. If no specifications were given, the bond may need to be mailed to:
City of Orlando City Hall
400 South Orange Ave
Orlando, FL 32801

Telecommunications Surety Bonds
Communications service providers (or their contractors) performing work in public streets or sidewalks, parkways, curbs, storm sewer systems, or sewer systems may need a surety bond as described below:
Private Owner Construction Bond
Property owners that are doing construction that utilizes the public right-of-way must file a $5,000 bond. The property owner is liable for any damages that arise from obstruction, excavation, falling objects, or other causes in the streets or sidewalks; the bond will provide compensation to the City in the event of the contractor’s failure to pay for such loss or damages.
Tent Permit Bond
A $5,000 bond is required for a tent permit to be issued.
Dredge and Fill Permit Bond
A contractor seeking a Dredge and Fill Permit for work on lake floors will need to file a surety bond first. The Dredge/Fill Bond must be in an amount that is 100% equal to the contract price of the proposed dredging and fill and conditioned that the work will be completed according to the Dredge and Fill Permit Ordinances.
When your surety bond is nearing the end of its term, Jet will send you a renewal notice via mail and email. If you need to renew your bond, simply fill out the notice. Additional information may be needed to verify your renewal rate.
To cancel your bond, send Jet an email at [email protected]. We will request cancellation but will be bound to any cancellation provisions listed on the bond or any procedures the appropriate Department enforces.
