The Baker County Public Works Department requires a Right of Way Bond as a prerequisite to obtaining a permit for construction on a driveway, street opening, or another right-of-way area. Those doing work on single-family residential culvert installation or driveway connections are excluded from this bond requirement.
Due to increased tourism surrounding Lake Okeechobee, the need for various road work and construction has amped up within the Okeechobee County, Florida region.
The Right of Way Bond limit must be equal to 125% of the estimated cost of construction, which is to be approved by an engineer licensed in the State of Florida.
Contractors seeking a bond limit of $10,000 or less can purchase their bond at a guaranteed rate of $100 for a one-year bond term with Jet. If a larger bond amount (over $25k) is needed, Jet’s rates are based on a soft credit check, and occasionally, a review of the contractor’s business finances.

Okeechobee County
Public Works Department
304 NW 2nd Street
Okeechobee, FL 34972
The contractor is responsible for upholding all public safety, permit, property damage, and warranty obligations. In addition, applicable regulations pursuant to Article II of the Okeechobee County, FL Municode must be followed.
The Right of Way Bond is required by the Public Works Department as a way to financially ensure that the above terms and conditions will be met, which includes a very important one-year warranty clause following the execution of the project. This just means that within this time frame, the contractor is required to repair and maintain the right-of-way area upon every service request sent by the county. If the contractor fails to do this, a claim will be filed and funds from the Right of Way Bond can be used by the Department to hire a new contractor that can handle the job properly.
