A need for new construction has increased within the Nassau County area due to an influx of tourism to its various charming and historical beach towns.
If you are one of the many contractors seeking construction bids within the county, the Building Department requires a Certified Contractor License with the county and a $2,000 Contractor License Bond before any work may begin. A surety bond is a financial tool used by Nassau County to protect itself and its constituents from certain damages a contractor may cause.
In addition, land developers or the contractor hired on their behalf may be required by the Engineering Services Department to obtain a Right-of-Way Permit Bond and/or Right-of-Way Maintenance Bond as a prerequisite to being issued a right-of-way utility permit.
At Jet, contractors may purchase the $2,000 Contractor License Bond for the guaranteed price of $100 for a one-year bond term.
Bond Limit | Cost |

As for the Right-of-Way Bonds, the bond amounts are determined by the Engineering Services Department. Bond limits up to $10,000 may be purchased at $100 for a one-year bond term. Additional bond limits and Jet rates can be found in the price chart below.

The “Secure Your Bond” button above may be selected to get started with your bond purchase! Once you have purchased your preferred surety bond, the original signed and sealed bond form must be filed with either the Building Department or the Engineering Services Department at the following mailing address:
Nassau County

Yulee, FL 32097
Once certified with the county, the contractor must follow all applicable license regulations pursuant to Chapter 7 of the Nassau County, FL Municode. If the contractor commits a violation, the Contractors Regulatory Board will give the contractor a chance to first correct the transgression before a mandatory hearing is held. Should the contractor be unwilling or unable to resolve the matter within the ordered timeline, the Board may file a claim upon the Contractor License Bond on behalf of themselves or a damaged claimant.
When it comes to the Right-of-Way Permit and Maintenance Bonds, the land developer or contractor must follow all regulations pursuant to the permit and Appendix D of the code listed above when executing the clearing of or construction upon roadway, drainage, or underground utilities. Once the project has been completed, maintenance upon the right-of-way area is required for a minimum period of 26 months by the permit holder. Failure to fulfill any of these obligations may result in a bond claim.
Further details on what actions could lead to a bond claim on either license or permit bond are available via the “Bond Claim Process” buttons below.
Jet will send a renewal notification to you prior to the end of your bond term. If you need to renew your bond for licensing reasons or if your permit project was extended, simply complete the payment that is listed on your renewal invoice. In cases where more info is needed, Jet will contact you by email or phone.
As for canceling your bond early, written requests for cancellation may be sent by email to [email protected]. Once received, the Jet team will contact the appropriate Nassau County department and request for early termination of your bond. The cancellation conditions enforced by the county will be followed upon receipt of their decision.
