Florida Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicle Bonds

Florida Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicle Bond

Florida mobile home dealers, mobile home manufacturers, mobile home installers, recreational vehicle (RV) dealers, and recreational vehicle manufacturers are required to file a surety bond with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles as part of the licensing requirements.

The Mobile Home Dealer Bond, the Mobile Home Manufacturer Bond, the Mobile Home Installer Bond, the Recreational Vehicle Dealer Bond, and the Recreational Vehicle Manufacturer, Distributor, Importer, or Van Converter Bond all have a similar purpose: to protect retail and wholesale customers from damages caused by a dealer breaking the written contract.

How Much Do the Florida RV and Mobile Home Dealer Bonds Cost?

All Florida dealer and manufacturer bonds cost only a fraction of the required limit with Jet! For example, the price for a Mobile Home Installer Bond with a limit of $5,000 is just $10 per month or $100 per year; rates are based on personal credit and actual costs may vary. Florida RV dealers start at $10 a month as well. Mobile Home Dealer in Florida can expect prices to start at $25 a month or $250 annually. The chart below outlines what a preferred-credit applicant would be approved for at the different bond limits for these bonds.

As for filing, Jet will mail the physical copy of the bond directly to you. You will need to send the bond to the address below:

State of Florida
Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

Room A312, Mailstop #765
Tallahassee, FL 32399-0500

Mobile home and RV dealers, manufacturers, distributors, importers and/or van converters have a license term that begins on October 1st and the surety bonds are bound to this term as well. To keep your bond active, you will need to renew it annually before October 1st so that Jet can issue a continuation certificate for you. The certificate will need to be submitted to the Department at the start of the new license term.

Claims on these bonds can come from retail customers that are financially injured by a dealer or manufacturer who breaks their contract, fails to provide warranty service, or otherwise violates the Florida Statutes, Chapter 319 and Chapter 320.
