Rental car centers must file a Rental Car Concession and Lease Bond with the Broward County Aviation Department. The bond (formally called the Form of Performance and Payment Bond for Security Deposit - Rental Car Center) provides a financial guarantee of faithful performance of the Rental Car Concession Lease and Operating Agreement and payment to the County.
The cost of the Rental Car Center Bond starts at just $100 per year with Jet. Of course, the actual cost of a bond will depend on the bond limit that is required by the Broward County Aviation Department and a personal credit check—and for bond limits that are over $15,000 a review of financial statements.
The bond limit is calculated as a quarter of the Minimum Annual Guarantee for the first year of the Concession Lease and Operating Agreement plus three months of the facility’s rent of the first year of the Agreement.
To apply for the Rental Car Concession and Lease Bond, just click the button at the top of the page. You’ll go through Jet’s streamlined application that only takes a few minutes to fill out. Part of the application form will require a social security number that is used for the soft credit check.
When complete, applications for bonds that have a limit below $15,000 will most often yield a quote that is ready to purchase; if the bond limit is over $15,000, your application will be submitted for review. A Jet team member will get in contact with you for additional information, like financial statements. Once the review is complete, you will receive an email with your approved quote.
After you have purchased your Rental Car Center Bond, Jet will prepare the bond form. A digital copy will be emailed to you (along with a receipt of your purchase) and the original will be sent via mail. You will need to submit your bond along with the Concession Lease and Operating Agreement at:
Broward County Aviation Department
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
320 Terminal Drive, Suite 200
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315
The bond will remain in effect for six (6) months after the end of the Agreement. But, the County will allow cancellation if given 120 days’ notice before the cancellation or expiration date.
This bond is conditioned on three main points—the car rental center needs to do the following things:
A rental car center that breaks any of these obligations may receive a claim on the Rental Car Concession and Lease Bond for due compensation. If you receive a claim, let Jet know right away. Our team will make sure that false claims won’t escalate to an unnecessary claim payout, but if the claim is valid, Jet will compensate the injured party. As is the case in the surety industry, you will be responsible for paying Jet back in the amount of a claim payout.
