What Limit Does My Peddler Bond Need to Be at?

Each city in Arizona that requires a Peddler Bond sets the bond in an amount that would cover any damages to itself or its citizens. The limits for each city are found below:

Casa Grande: The penal sum of either $500 or 10% of the estimated gross sales value, whichever is greater
Chandler: $1,000
Payson: Set by town council
Prescott: $200 for the applicant, add $100 for each employee/agent | max of $1,000

Why Is the Peddler Bond Required?

The Peddler Bond is required in some Arizona cities to protect the municipality and the public from dishonest actions of the peddler, vendor, transient merchant, or solicitor. The surety bond is a tool which guarantees the city will receive owed fees for licenses and permits. The bond also acts as financial security for customers should they be harmed by a peddler’s faulty claims.

Can I Cancel My Peddler Bond and Get a Refund?

Jet allows you to cancel the bond at any time! Just send us a written request to cancel the bond and we will notify the appropriate municipality. A pro-rata refund will be provided to those who chose an annual payment option, when applicable.

If the bond is cancelled while the peddler or business still wishes to hold their license, they have 10 days from the date of the cancellation to obtain a new bond. The license will become inactive if no new bond is on file with the city or town.

How to Renew the Peddler Bond in Arizona

At Jet, the bond can be renewed in a matter of minutes. Before renewal, Jet will send out a notice through mail and email. Those paying on annual terms will have plenty of time to provide payment online or via standard mail.

How Does a Peddler Avoid Bond Claims?

Claims can be avoided as long as the vendor, solicitor, transient merchant, or peddler abides by the rules and statutes of the city they are located in. In Chandler, any person in violation of the Chandler Municipal Code, Chapter 20, Section 20-16 shall be found guilty of a misdemeanor.

Violations that can lead to a claim on the bond include:

The court, along with anyone harmed by the peddler, can file a bond claim. It is in the best interest of the peddler or solicitor to abide by the municipality’s code to avoid bond claims and other disciplinary actions.

What Happens if I Get a Claim on My Peddler Bond?

Upon receiving a bond claim, it is important to notify Jet immediately. Whether the claim comes from an aggrieved individual or the clerk of court on behalf of an individual, Jet takes the initiative to investigate all details prior to paying out the claim. If the claim is legitimate, Jet will pay the claimant up to the full bond limit. Because peddlers, merchants, solicitors, vendors, and canvassers are responsible for their actions, they must repay Jet for the full amount.
