The Arizona State Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts Commission exists to regulate and supervise all boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts events in the State of Arizona. The Commission requires all boxing events to remain in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations surrounding any participant of a boxing event.
The Boxing Promoter Bond is required as part of the promoter’s licensing requirements. The bond provides an additional fiscal guarantee to the Commission that you, as the promoter, will act in accordance with Title 5, Chapter 2, Article 2, of the Arizona State Statutes (ARS) to uphold their contracts, provide refunds when necessary and abide by the required guidelines for the payment of taxes and fees. Simply, the bond will make payment to all relevant parties, should you fail to do so. However, with a license bond, liability for non-payment still resides with you — and like a diligent bookie, the surety will come to collect.
The application process with Jet is hassle free. You will simply need to complete our online application by inputting basic information in addition to providing a social security number for a soft credit check.
Once the application has been completed by the promoter, an approved ready-to-purchase rate will be available. The promoter will receive a copy of the bond and a receipt after the transaction has been made. It’s that simple!
Yes, Jet can! The original bond form will be filed to the Commission along with the necessary seals and signatures.
A copy of the bond will be made available to you upon purchase. If you need to receive the original bond form, you can simply request for Jet to send it to you at checkout. The Boxing Promoter Bond will need to be sent directly to the address stated below:
Arizona Department of Gaming
Attn: Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission
1110 W. Washington Street, Suite 450
Phoenix, Arizona, 85007
The boxing promoter has the ability to cancel their bond after sending a written notice to Jet. Jet will immediately act in accordance with the intent of cancellation and send notice to the Commission.
For bonds purchased on a monthly basis, the cancellation process is as simple as stopping the monthly payments. Once the payments stop coming in, the bond will be considered inactive and cancelled.
Should there be a refund available for a bond purchased on annual terms, Jet will take into account the amount of unearned premium left available for refund.
At Jet, the Boxing Promoter Bond can be renewed in the matter of minutes. Bonds purchased on an annual basis can be renewed through a one time payment before the expiration date. Don’t worry, Jet will send out a renewal notice through mail or email with plenty of time for you to make a payment and secure bond coverage for another yearly term.
Bonds purchased on monthly terms require no action and the bond will remain active as long as monthly payments are cleared.
Every promoter in the State of Arizona is required to abide by ARS Chapter 2 - Article 2, Title 5. Boxing promoters wanting to avoid bond claims must always do the following:
In addition to avoiding bond claims, promoters should be aware of the other rules surrounding their profession. Per ARS 5-236 , promoters should not engage in the following:
Any promoter engaging in the listed prohibited actions will be guilty of a class 2 misdemeanor. The Commission, the Attorney General, or a County Attorney of the county in which the violations were made, each have the ability to file a claim against the promoter.
Per ARS 5-235.01, the Commission will have the right to execute the following disciplinary actions unto the guilty promoter:
The Commission will investigate the validity of any claims made against the promoter. If a claim is found as valid by the Commission, Jet will be fighting in the promoter’s corner, collecting all relevant information to defend our client.
If the claim is found valid, Jet will make a bond payout to any damaged party up to the full limit of the bond. The promoter is not off the hook at this point, as the bond is like a letter of credit when paid out. The promoter will be expected to provide a reimbursement to Jet for any payouts made as a result of the promoter’s violation to uphold contractual payments or refunds.
The Boxing Promoter Bond in the amount of $20,000 is one of the Promoter License Application Requirements found on the Commissions Forms, Licensing & Fees page. However, if requested by the Commission, you (the promoter) may need to file an additional bond.
As part of the event licensing requirements for promoters, the Commission may also require an event bond as mentioned in the Substantive Policy Statement Relating to Annual and Event Bonds. If you need this event bond please call Jet at (855) 296-2663 to speak with an underwriter.
