The Pesticide Management Division of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) regulates those performing custom application of pesticides, termite eradication, and structural pest control, requiring them to file a surety bond. Known as the Pest Control Bond, this bond acts as financial guarantee to the ADAI that Alabama’s public, animals, and lands are protected from detrimental effects caused by pesticides and the licensee’s impropriety.
Jet’s role is to provide you the bond efficiently at an affordable rate to get on the job, while upholding the guarantee of reimbursement to the ADAI should you act fraudulently or negligently.
The cost of the Custom Application of Pesticides Bond starts at $10 monthly or $100 for one year, but is based on credit. The bond limit is $3,000 for each applicant operating ground equipment and two or less aircrafts. If an applicant will be operating more than two aircrafts, the bond amount is increased by $3,000 for each additional aircraft. The bond amount caps out at $12,000.
If you need the $2,500 Termite Eradication and Control Work Bond, your cost with Jet is $100 for one year or $10 monthly! There are also multi-year options available. All you need to do is provide basic information and payment and your bond is available immediately.
Refer to the chart below for example pricing:
Bond Term | Cost |
---|---|
Monthly | $10 |
1 Year | $100 |
2 Years | $175 |
3 Years | $250 |
Jet is the only company that provides a monthly payment option for either bond in Alabama.
The State of Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is charged with protecting Alabama’s public, animals, and land. More specifically, the ADAI Pesticide Management Division’s regulation of pest control requires those performing custom application of pesticides and termite eradication and control work to obtain a surety bond as a way to guarantee reimbursement to any person financially damaged as a result of a licensee’s actions.
Jet is the third-party guarantor acting as a liaison for the ADAI and the licensee. Our job is to ensure payment is available in the case the licensee does not comply with rules and regulations within the Code of Alabama, 1975, Title 2, Chapter 27, Article 3.
For the Termite Eradication and Control Work Bond, it’s as easy as filling out the basic information and providing payment!
For the Custom Application of Pesticides Bond, a soft credit check is completed to get you an approved rate. Don’t worry, it is done in seconds and won’t affect your credit!
Once payment is completed you receive your receipt and a copy of the bond for your records.
Absolutely! Once payment is received Jet can file the bond to the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries for you. You will receive a copy of the bond immediately after purchase as well.
If you choose to file the bond yourself, you can select that option when making payment. It must be sent to the following address:
Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries
Pesticide Management Division
1445 Federal Drive
Montgomery, AL 36107
Yes, Jet allows you to cancel the bond at any time. However, make sure you have another bond lined up or are no longer utilizing the license. When you’re ready to cancel, you can email us at [email protected]. Jet will notify the ADAI, where the bond is kept active for an additional 15 days. During those 15 days, you and the surety company (Jet) are liable under the bond, so that must be taken into account when calculating any potential refunds.
If you paid for the bond for a full year or multiple years ahead, Jet will make sure to get any unused premium back to you after cancellation. If you pay monthly, there is no refund available but the payments will end after the 15-day cancellation period.
Renewing is simple. If you pay monthly, there is no renewal process as long as payments are continually received by Jet. If you paid for the bond in full at the time of purchase, Jet will both mail and email you a renewal notice with plenty of time to make payment. As long as payment is received prior to the bond’s expiration date, the bond will stay active and on file with the ADAI.
For the Custom Application of Pesticides Bond, you must let us know if there is a change to the bond limit (email is fine: [email protected]) as this may affect the cost of the bond. It is important that you have the correct coverage to keep an active license status.
Avoiding claims as a pest control licensee is as easy as following the regulations that apply to your license. You are obligated to comply with the corresponding sections of the Code of Alabama:
Claims on either bond come from lack of compliance with the rules and regulations. However, the Department of Agriculture and Industries is heavily involved in corrective action, and the bond is often the last course of action if the licensee is not willing to fix issues that arise. A violation of any provision of the applicable chapter can lead to disciplinary action, including a misdemeanor with fines up to $500 or license revocation. If any issues arise, it is in your best interest to be responsive and cooperative with the ADAI to avoid a bond claim.
Jet ensures no faulty claims are paid by thoroughly reviewing all of the claim details. However, any valid claims must be paid to the claimant for the claim amount, up to the full bond limit.
When Jet sells you the bond, we are guaranteeing your compliance with the ADAI. Because a claim only happens if you fail or refuse to follow the applicable regulations, you must pay Jet back to restore the bond to its full capacity. Not paying back a bond claim will lead to future complications getting a license and bond.
