Eufaula, Alabama Performance Bond

City of Eufaula, Alabama Performance Bond

The City of Eufaula’s Building/Planning Department requires certain applicants of the City’s Building Permit to obtain a custom Performance Bond as part of their requirements to pull a permit.

APPLY FOR BOND

Jet Insurance Company provides the Eufaula Performance Bond to ensure the City that the property owner and their designated licensed contractor will follow the rules and regulations of the permit, as well as the terms of the agreed upon landscape plan. The surety bond acts as a financial guarantee in cases of these obligations not being upheld.

What Is the Bond Limit and Cost for the Eufaula Permit Bond?

The Performance Permit Bond limit is determined by the City of Eufaula’s Horticulturist, and is required to be no less than 125% of the cost for improvements laid out in the commercial property’s approved landscape plan.

With Jet, the bond’s cost starts at $100 annually. Our rates will vary based on the bond limit, and for applicants with a limit over $25,000, your personal credit score will be considered. Refer to the chart below for additional bond limits and payment options.

The Jet team has worked hard to offer affordable surety bonds to our applicants, which is why we cut out the middlemen agents and brokers who sell bonds at higher rates to cover the cost of their own commissions.

The Eufaula Performance Permit Bond Process With Jet

We keep our bond process simple and take care of all the pesky details for you! Refer to the sections below for further information regarding the various surety bond steps:

How to apply for the bond: Our online application will ask for some general information such as the City of Eufaula’s required bond limit, and possibly your social security number for a soft credit check. Once you submit the application, just choose your preferred bond term and complete payment. A receipt and copy of the bond will immediately be sent to you for your personal records.

How to file your bond: Jet can file the Eufaula Performance Permit Bond for you! The City’s Building/Planning Department requires the original, signed and sealed bond to be filed with their office. If you would like to file the bond yourself, you may select that option at checkout.

The Building Permit application must be submitted for review before the necessary surety bond can be filed, so be sure to complete this step before applying with Jet (this is how you find out what the bond limit needs to be). A guideline for the permit requirements can be found on the City of Eufaula’s website

All documentation should be sent to the mailing address below:

How to cancel your bond: At Jet, you may cancel your bond at any time. The Eufaula Performance Permit Bond is continuous and will remain so until officially canceled. Simply send us a written cancellation request to [email protected] and we will proceed with filing the bond’s termination notice with the Eufaula Building/Planning Department. Liability will be released within 30-day of the cancellation notice date.

Once the grace period has ended, Jet will send you a reimbursement for any available premium left on the bond term.

Your Building Permit will expire after 1-year and will need to be renewed if the construction job has still not been completed. The Eufaula Performance Permit Bond must remain on file to keep your permit status with the City in good standing.

How to Avoid a Eufaula Performance Permit Bond Claim

The Eufaula Building/Planning Department and the City’s Horticulturist expects the commercial property owner and their hired landscape contractor to follow all regulations of the Building Permit pursuant to the Eufaula Zoning Ordinance, as well as the terms of the agreed upon landscape plan. Failure to comply may result in large fines, permit termination, a loss of the job contract, and/or a bond claim.

However, a claim will typically only be filed if the finished greenscape covers less than 15% of the total building site, if the work provided does not meet the agreed upon landscape plan, or if the landscape contractor is unable to or refuses to complete the job.

In these instances, the City Horticulturist will file a claim on the Eufaula Performance Permit Bond. The commercial landscape job will then be bidded out and the bond will cover the pay for a new landscape contractor to finish the job. It is in the best interest of the property owner and their hired contractor to resolve any issues with the City before a pricey bond claim ensues.

Immediately contact Jet if you receive a bond claim. We will begin by briefing you on how our claim process works, followed by a review of all available documentation. If the claim is found to be valid, Jet Insurance Company is legally obligated to make payment up to the bond limit. The bondholder is ultimately responsible for their own actions and the actions of their hired contractors, and must reimburse Jet for the paid out bond claim. Failure to do so may lead to difficulties in securing surety bonds in the City of Eufaula, Alabama.
